Credit Card Bailout Lie tells the story of one misleading effort to sell you debt settlement or debt relief services. Over the past few months I became sensitive to messages on the air waves for resolving your debt without bankruptcy. The ad announcers are using the same tactics to hawk debt relief that I see from used car dealers. Some I have heard are:

- Powerful information about the credit card reform act
I don’t look at my financial life as a used car. Do you? When I think of my finances I see a sleek new Porsche Spyder. It may not be exactly, but that is what I see. What do you see? It may be in bad shape, but I bet with a little work it can be comfy and fast.
The problem is that there are people out there who look at you and see nothing more than a used car buyer. Someone willing to pay inflated prices for something that barely works. You will still be paying for them long after it stops working for you.
They get your attention with loud glitzy ads. When you think of a “blow out event” I bet you feel lots of excitement. You see a big tent with phone banks, and tables filled with people on phones with your debt flying out the door. Just like used cars flying off the lot. Do you really think that is what is happening? Do you think your money problems are exciting? Do you think they believe your money problems are exciting?
Everyone wants to be in on a secret. Think about this one. If it really is a secret why announce it on the radio? Because secrets are exciting too. They make you an insider. We all want a leg up on someone else. Their ad people know it and they are selling it to you. You want to buy in.
I have bad news for you. Bankruptcy is not exciting. Even worse, neither are most bankruptcy lawyers. I can’t deliver the excitement of inside information. I can tell you I am a bankruptcy attorney, not an attorney who does bankruptcy cases in addition to everything else under the sun. I know more than a regular lawyer about fixing your debt problems and your inaccurate credit report.
I will deliver peace of mind in the face the pressures of debt. That is powerful and very exciting.
